"FILMING IN INDIA-REMOTELY"

Shantulan was an invaluable member of my production team on five very different films. I first met and worked with him in 2003 on a National Geographic story that documented the very rare and unusual practices of India's Aghori sadhus. Shantulan, as location manager, associate producer, and translator, aided in all the aspects of our production - I cannot stress enough that without his assistance this film would not have been possible to make. I continued to work with him on four more films - all for National Geographic Television and OWN/Discovery.

Shantulan experience continued to expand on each production we collaborated on. He is always a hardworking, conscientious and creative member of our team. I would highly recommend him for any future work in production. 

“Shantulan and I worked together on two of the biggest stories I’ve ever been involved with - both for the OWN/Discovery Channel series BELIEF. The first story involved assembling and coordinating a big crew to film the Kumbh Mela - the biggest religious gathering in the world. Shantulan was a star. He made sure the crew was happy, comfortable and well-fed while also helping us get access to terrific characters. The second story involved filming a Jain initiation ceremony. Shantulan took the lead role in arranging access to the ceremony, building relationship with the characters and ensuring all logistics ran smoothly. Shantulan Mishra was a wonderful asset to our National Geographic Television film crew working on a project “Wild India” from October 2006-April 2007. He has also worked on another National Geographic series called Taboo.

I would highly-recommend Shantulan Mishra as Producer, Shantulan Mishra scouted locations, negotiated location fees, navigated difficult situations with angry crowds, interviewed potential characters, acted as a translator and filmed valuable footage. He is extremely creative and very talented. In addition, Shantulan is a joy to work with in the field. He has a warm, generous and kind personality is an extremely hard worker and is very dedicated to getting the job done well.
